these things such assssssssssssssssss a kid at my school got them because he said they wereflexible and for speed and he ended up with three brocken ribs
Liners are not meant for under pads they are meant as really light pads they are called liners cause the original light pads were the liners of football pads
people need to stop posting and saying that these are meant to be worn under shoulder pads. the only reason that they're called liners is that the original ultralight lacrosse shoulder pads were actually football pad liners, and these are based off that design. they legally qualify as shoulder pads.
if you get hit in the chest with a shot at just the right time, with ANY pad, you can die. we all know that, but we play anyway. if someone wants to wear these or the adams, who freaking cares. if someone wants to go pad himself up as much as he can, go for it. just do whatever your comfortable with. i have a pair of warrior pc hitmans 6.0 since i've had my colar bone snapped in half twice with other pads. but my arms are a differnt story. i wear a pair of neo d sleves, which are like nothing, and i freaking love them.
are these legal in highschool ball if you just wear these alone?? and would it be legal to cut the shoulder pads off to?i want to buy these but i just want these alone, i dont want it as an underpiece..
if anyone's incredibly worried about wearing these, first consider your position, if you're a short stick i wouldn't be worried about getting hit with shots, because hopfully you'll be the ones firing them. and if you're still worried just wear them for practices, not a bunch goes down then.
Mario St. George Boiardi, Jr. (July 30, 1981 - March 17, 2004) was a lacrosse player for Cornell University.
In the 4th quarter of a game against Binghamton University, Boiardi stepped in front of a ball that had been fired by a Binghamton player, and was struck in the chest. He collapsed, and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
it was becuase he was hit at the split second in his heart beat. the ONLY time it becomes lethal. It happens in every sport(In my town it happened in ULTIMATE FIRSBEE OK) occasionally, it is a tragedy, but part of the risk of playing any sport.
yeah I realize you can die with these but think about it, there's defenders and middies out there who turn around when someone fires the ball, if they get hit in the back of the head where the helmet is cut short then they're dead too, there was an article in US Lacrosse about how a freshman died during a pre-game practice, he was hit right where the helmet ends with a normal light pass and was dead before he reached the hospital, it's a dangerous sport and if you don't like that then don't play it, as a goalie if it ever happens to me at least I would be killed doing the one thing I love the most.
I realize you can die by wearing this but you can die wearing any shoulder pads. And the chances are really, really, really small. When the guy died at Cornell they said if it had happened 1 millisecond before or after he would have been fine. It's all chance. If anyone dies wearing these have your family tell me and I'll stop wearing them.
hey guys I dunno if you know this but back in the 80's early 90's the shoulder pads they wore were those minus the big bulky pads on top of them, and the odds of getting hit in the chest are one in a million you have a better chance of getting killed by walking down the street
say you play defense....you lost your man so you go to the hole....just as you turn around a middie takes a hard crank shot...BOOM...hits you in the chest..and your dead
these pads shouldn't be available....you can die or be seriously injured if you are hit in the right spot...there is absolutley no protection on the heart area
so before you buy these...think of the consequences
if your a little girl and cant take a check or hit u put sp's over them but most people who will buy these are going to wear them as stand alones, just like the adams liners
only you would be stupid enough to do that. also lacrosse is a rough sport so you be a sissy and type all you want but pads don't prevent you from death, just less bruises
lastly, its a shoulder pad LINER!
you dont need to antagonize anyone. and yes even though it does say SP liner...people still wear it as shoulder pads. for example the adams SP liner. and ur wrong DMan, people do die from gettin hit in the chest and yes wearing more pads in the chest area is suggested.
and no one wears liners and pads its one or the other i have both and i only wear real shoulder pads when we play really physical teams and i get pissed and decide to go lay some ppl out
the gait chaos liner has no chest area at all these are great theyre very mobile like a few others have said its a one in a million chance im sure you'll be fine when you die from wearin em hit me up til then shut up
hey buddy my dad played back in the 70's and you didnt even have to were shoulder pads. people who are scared of dying hey it happens every day freak accidents. if your scared of dying stay in your room for the rest of your life
actually in order to be killed by being shot in the heart is if it is in-between the heart beating. in the game it gos extra fast. so thats pretty much imposible. and companies like these still think we use these under our pads but we dont so they dont know. you should make statements like that only if you no it smart ass
