Love this head was my starter until the mesh ripped on it. I tried stringing it but i found it so hard to string. Ive been stringing Goalie heads for 3 years and field heads for 6 Years. So i switched to my Brine Eraser 2. The STX Shield isn't one of the stiffest heads either the nemesis 2 is probably the stiffest but not so durable. 1 thing i can say its pretty heavy compared to the other heads. I would say if you were going to get this head get a professional stringer to string it like goalie strings.

After using just about every goalie head on the market, I have to say this is one of my favorites.
The Shield gives the player a little more control when stepping out of the crease and dodging the attack. On top of that, the weight makes passing very simple. In addition to having more control, this is a very sturdy head. You wont see much bend in the frame when saving those hard shots...that means more saves and less goals.
The top three I've used would be the Shield, Eclipse, and Nemesis. While the Eclipse and Nemi have a slightly wider sidewall, they tend to flex at the frame a little too much for comfort. Other than that, they are all strong goalie heads for ANY level.

If ur looking for the true goalie head this is one mean machine, after this head the attack won't be seeing as many points on the board

i love the shield i ordered two one red and one black.
a question for all you goalies out there, do any of you guys use a shorty pole instead of a regular goalie stick because i do and i use it because it is easier for me to use

i used a normal goalie shaft for half a season then switched to an attack randomly and i liked it a lot better.

I got this head right when it came out thinking it would be great, but It is way too heavy. A big waste of money

With the pro strung w/ ecm does the pocket end up being defined, deep and with a nice channel?
| - laxbro3901 12/30/13 reply|
I don't know about this but I got a Nike CEO pro stung with ECM and the was a defined pocket with a great channel right out of the box

The best head i have ever used! A little heavier than the Eclipse but stronger and will probably last a good couple seasons longer. If you can get your hands on an Epoch R40 it really makes the weight a non-issue. Also, if you don't mind paying a bit extra, get Canadian mesh, throughs perfect out of it.

this head is great. totally worth the price. i have one and it wont flex or allow shots. if you're looking to upgrade, this your best choice. its a little heavy, but matched with the right shaft, its not that noticeable. i have it on a scandium pro, and its a great combo
