WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team dropped its final nonconference tune up before starting BIG EAST play, falling 11-10 on the road at Loyola. The Hoyas fall to 2-6 on the season while the Greyhounds improve to 5-3. Peter Conley (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) tallied a pair of goals and three assists to eclipse the 100 career point mark. His two goals give him 67 total to move into 19th place all-time at Georgetown and his trio of assists move him into a tie for 23rd all-time with 37. Conley is just the 21st player in program history to reach the 100-point milestone. Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) notched his fourth hat trick of the season with three goals and an assist, Devon Lewis (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) had two goals and an assist, Craig Berge (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) tallied a pair of goals and Jake Carraway (Annapolis, N.Y./St. Mary's) added a goal and an assist. Defensively, Nick Marrocco (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) recorded a season-high 17 saves between the pipes for the Hoyas, including 13 in the opening half. He has now tallied six double-digit save games this year. Michael Mayer (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) led the Blue & Gray with five ground balls, Conley added three and both Berge and Charlie Ford (San Carlos, Calif./St. Ignatius) chipped in two. Loyola took the early advantage in the opening frame, netting three-straight goals before the Hoyas could get on the board. Conley would get the GU offense going, scoring his milestone point with an unassisted goal with 3:16 remaining in the quarter before the Greyhounds took a 4-1 lead in the final seconds of the first. Georgetown's offense came alive in the second, beginning the quarter win a man-up goal from Berge at the 14:08 mark. Loyola would respond with a goal nearly a minute later, but the Hoyas rallied off three unanswered goals from Carraway, Conley and Bucaro to knot things up at 5-5 with 7:20 remaining. A pair of Loyola goals down the stretch gave the Greyhounds a 7-5 lead going into halftime. Coming out of the break, the Blue & Gray kept the scoring going with three-straight goals to take their first lead of the game. Bucaro scored his second goal of the game to give the Hoyas an 8-7 advantage at the 10:03 mark but the Greyhounds would tally a late goal to even things up at 8-8 going into the final 15 minutes of action. Battling for separation down the stretch, Loyola posted back-to-back goals at the 8:57 and 7:56 marks to claim momentum. The Hoyas responded with Bucaro's third goal of the game just more than a minute later, but the Greyhounds added a late goal with 1:24 remaining to take an 11-9 lead. Not giving up, Berge pulled Georgetown within one with 58 second left. Forcing a Loyola miscue, the Hoyas had one last chance to send the game into overtime with 20 seconds on the clock but couldn't get a shot off in the remaining time. Jay Drapeau led Loyola with three goals while Pat Spencer added two goals and five assists. Grant Limone earned the win in goal, pulling in seven saves off the bench. Georgetown returns to action on Saturday as it hosts Marquette in its BIG EAST opener at noon. Live stats and video can be found on www.guhoyas.com with K.R.
