Beware Parity
by ziptop on April 14, 2004 @10:36:24 AM

Whenever you hear the word "parity" what you're really probably hearing is "mediocrity". Yes it's great that Navy is doing well for the first time since almost the sixties, BUT is the lacrosse being played by Navy and others excellent? Hardly. With all the talk about how much talent there is and how spread out it is to various programs; where is it?! Show it to me! I certainly don't see it. The Virginia-Maryland game was horrible at worst and boring at best. Where are the fast breaks? What has happened to this game? Where is all this talent? Why can't players pass and catch and clear the ball if they are so talented and have been playing all their lives? This Navy-Maryland game must have been a hideuos thing to see. Boy what I wouldn't give to see John Grant back out on the field again, or for that matter some of Navy's players back from when they were great. I think the quality of the game was much better then and much more exciting. We were much less worried about "venues" then, and how many fans we drew to the championship games.
