I'm not denying anyone the chance to dream. We wont see a Powell type player because you dont have anyone out west that had two older brothers that were practically bigger than the game. I doubt anyone there had a stick in their hand when they were two followed by 5 years of varsity lacrosse under a nazi coach who made you march out for each game with your knee high socks in rows of 2 like you're about to go into battle.
Why is Powell so good, becuase he is quick. Well I'm sure there are plenty of kids out west who are just as quick and maybe some that are quicker. Its not the mid-west fault that your youth programs aren't quite as intensive but someday they probably will be and then your tournaments will probably become much more exciting too.
Hell I'm from NY and even I didnt have the chance to play lax in my hometown until I hit 7th grade. When I have a son someday he'll be able to play when he's 4. Thems the breaks.
So take a deep breath and just enjoy the lacrosse while you have the chance to play it.
