2 DOWN, 2 TO GO FOR THE ORANGE!!
by Naptown Fan on April 21, 2007 @12:00:29 AM

Now, if the Orange beat UMASS and Colgate in their final 2 games, they will be 7-6. Even though that is not a great record, that will definitely be enough for them to make the tournament, mostly due to their name, tradition, and strength of schedule. Syracuse just beat the #2 team in the country in Albany, and they beat Georgetown earlier this season. Those wins would end up being huge for the Orange if they win their final 2 games. I think they will win those 2, but UMASS could be a tough test. UMASS is only 5-5 right now, but they have won 3 straight going into their game with Georgetown on Saturday, April 21st.

The Orange's offensive is still great, and, although the defense still needs work, there are signs of improvement there, too. 'Cuses goalie has improved, and he had a solid game vs. Albany.

Personally, I think that 'Cuse is better than their record shows. I saw them play UVA earlier this season. The Orange lost 11-8, but they played UVA very close most of the way. UVA goalie Kip Turner's awesome second half really made the big difference.

If 'Cuse makes the tournament, even with a fair at best defense, I think they could be dangerous. 'Cuse is famous for peaking at the end of the year.
