Totally Wrong

IC Bomber - you are totally wrong about your statement "Another point about Notre Dame, they don't give athletic scholorships, but they have school schororships that they can give for whatever reason they want to ("acedemics", character, involvement in their religious community at home) Some of these scholorships can range from 5,000-18,000 dollars a year"

I was a standout lacrosse player at ND from 1990-94 and graduated Cum Laude. Neither I nor anyone I know ever recieved the type of scholarships you mentioned. I can't speak for Princeton, but reports of scholarships like that are pure 'urban legend'. They may sound good but the fact is they do not exist at the University of Notre Dame.

If my own personal experience does not convince you, than think logically. Such a scholarship would be in blatant violation of the NCAA rules. They specify that each sport is allowed a specific amount of scholarships and not a penny more. I believe lacrosse its 12.5. Now how arbitrary would that rule be if schools could then go out and give a 'religous scholarship?' If your answer is that they do it anyways, just illegally, I ask you if there is anything more obvious and easy for the NCAA to discover than an illegal scholarship. Last point - do you really think ND would risk it's football team and its standing with the NCAA for lacrosse.

A religous scholarship? a character scholarship? Give me a break. Think before you type and don't believe everything you hear.
