It came down to finish not flash, and Hollywood flash was there in spades. Denver stepped up in the end beating LA 13-12 in front of a seemingly pro-LA crowd of 8,134. Denver’s Jeff Sonke earned game MVP honors with four goals including a 2-pt goal.

Aug 23, 2008 - The first semifinal game was the last game of the day. Rochester and Philadelphia put on a 16-15 show; it was an awesome display of championship quality lacrosse. The overtime goal by Casey Powell did several things: send Rochester to their first MLL Championship, rob the Barrage of a triple crown trophy, and overshadow the exploits of a star-studded cast.

| | | | Rattlers Hold Off Machine Behind Grant's 8 Goals, 19-15.
Aug 10, 2008 - The Chicago Machine had hopes today of handing the Rochester Rattlers a loss and move the Machine’s record to 4-9, but the Machine fell flat in the first quarter as Rochester tallied 8 goals. The Machine couldn’t do anything right in the first quarter and for their play, they should have been using shovels, rather than crosses, given the depth of the hole they dug for themselves, as John Grant found the net eight times, four times in the first quarter. Chicago’s offense finally sputtered to life toward the end of the first and then roared back to life in the second, scoring eight times to trail by only two at halftime. The lack of gas in the Machine’s tank doomed them in the fourth when they let the Rattlers take a two goal lead.

With the loss of important midfielders Mike Law (to apparent retirement) and Josh Sims (on the Physically Unable to Perform list since mid-May due to injury) for the Outlaws 2008 campaign, Langtry has bore an even larger burden, yet still produced at his amazingly consistent level.
