Princeton Announces Schedule and Raymond as Asst Coach
press release September 30, 2005

Greg Raymond Named Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach Tigers announce 2006 schedule

Sept. 29, 2005

Greg Raymond, a key member of the 2005 NCAA men's lacrosse champion Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, has been named an assistant coach at Princeton, head coach Bill Tierney announced.

In addition to the appointment of Raymond, Tierney also announced the 2006 Princeton men's lacrosse schedule, which will see the Tigers play 14 regular season games, the most since 1991.

Raymond comes to Princeton from Hopkins, where he was a longstick midfielder and sociology major. Raymond helped the Blue Jays to a perfect 16-0 record last spring, which began with a 9-6 win over Princeton at Class of 1952 Stadium and ended with a 9-8 win over Duke in the NCAA championship game, giving Hopkins its first title since 1987. Raymond and the rest of the Hopkins defense shut out Duke for the final 27 minutes of the championship game.

Raymond, a native of Corning, N.Y., missed all of the 2001 season with a torn ACL, an injury that limited him in 2002 as well. He became a key member of the Blue Jay defense in 2004 and was the top longstick midfielder last year as a fifth-year senior.

The 2006 season for Princeton will start Feb. 25 at home against Canisius before a game the following Saturday in Baltimore against Johns Hopkins. After that, Princeton's next five games are all at home, beginning March 11 against Virginia, another Final Four team of a year ago, and then continuing March 18 with the annual game against Hofstra.

Princeton will then host three teams the following weekend, when the Tigers take on Butler Friday night and Binghamton Sunday afternoon. Bellarmine, the fourth team at Princeton that weekend, will play Bingham Friday and Butler Sunday.

Princeton's other two non-league games are against traditional rivals in non-traditional spots on the schedule. The Princeton-Syracuse game moves from the fourth Saturday of March to April 8, this year in Syracuse. The Princeton-Rutgers game returns to midweek after being on a Saturday last year, though this year's game has been moved to April 25, the latest in the regular season the teams have played since 1979.

The Ivy League season begins April 1 at Class of 1952 against Yale. Princeton's other league home games are against Penn and Cornell, with road games at Brown, Harvard and Dartmouth.
