Lacrosse Invades YouTube | Lacrosse Invades YouTube by Walleye on October 30, 2006
If you do a search for “lacrosse, lax, lacrosse goals” or anything similar you are going to come back with thousands of 30 second clips, 99% of which you never want to watch again. I spent 20 minutes watching some teenagers’ version of lacrosse in a pool with mini sticks, so I decided I would do our audience a favor and try to sort through some of the garbage that is out there. Below are links to some of the most viewed and entertaining lacrosse clips I was able to find on Youtube. In all honesty, there are not that many good ones, but hopefully this will help you get through your day.
Finally, a lacrosse company is smart enough to use youtube and myspace to do some free marketing. Maverik just put this up and it has now become my favorite lacrosse youtube video. creative and well done. Check out their myspace page at Maverik MySpace

Right now I am sitting at my desk while some of my peers are playing in Hawaii so I decided to do a little search for Hawaii lacrosse. Not only was there a video, its one of the higher quality clips out there. Good job.
Hawaii Lacrosse Tourney
Everyone loves to see a goalie score and what better place for it to happen then in the Carrier Dome. Here is a clip of Andrew Goldstein of Dartmouth going coast to coast against Cuse after making a save.
Goalie Scores
I can’t even begin to tell you how many kids video tape themselves doing stick tricks and then put them on Youtube. There are literally thousands, but don’t bother watching any of them. This kid right here is light years ahead of everyone.
Stick Tricks
Face offs get you possessions and possessions get you goals so its only natural there would be someone who put together a face-off hightlight video.
Faceoffs
Navy was one of my rival teams in college, but I still find myself cheering for them every now and then. One of their highlight videos made it to the internet and I catch myself watching it once in a while. Well done.
Navy Highlight Clip
This has been touted as one on the best goals in MLL history and a lot of people agree. Anytime that you manage to throw a fake while you are already sideways in the air, you are going to get that reaction, as you can hear from Quint’s immediate response.
Best MLL Goal?
Indoor Lacrosse Fights:
This is the grand daddy of lacrosse fights. It involves just about every player on both teams and goes on for an unprecedented 3 minutes. The strangest thing about watching this fight is that at no point does it seem to be completely out of control. It has some bad camera work and quality, but this gives you a good idea of what is going on up in Canada.
3 min indoor fight
Another clip brought to us by Canada that clearly demonstrates why a lot of people think that lacrosse is tougher than hockey.
One Hit Fight
As some of my friends begin the indoor training camp season in preparation for this years NLL season, I start to wonder if I should have tried out. When I feel any regret, I watch this clip and it reminds me how much I appreciate my unbroken jaw. I use this jaw to eat and talk everyday, so I am going to have to pass on the NLL.
Uppercut
HITS
There are a million things I like about this clip, but I will only list a couple. First, the guy gets hit so high and hard, his helmet pops off. Second, this is from the days when a NLL uniform meant spandex shorts and a huge hockey jersey.
BIG hit
Another great clip of someone up in Canada getting crushed. This guy gets completely up ended, but he is the real winner here when you see how quickly he pops back up and still manages to give the hitter a shove as he runs off the field. Someone please get some new video cameras shipped up to Canada.
Indoor Hit
At first, I was shocked when I came across a Baltimore Bayhawks Hits highlight video, but then I saw that it was only a couple hits over the 2003 season, so no surprise there.
Bayhawks hits?
Just another great hit from up in the Carrier Dome:

 | Hockey vs. Lax by x2laxer (#38132) on 11/03/06 @1:42PM | | | | Why does that one punch fight demonstrate that lax is tougher than hockey?? I've played both sports and cannot say either one is any tougher than the other one. At the professional level, I'd give the nod to the NHL guys. In fact, I've seen a hockey guy get half his ear ripped off by a slapshot. He went in the back, got it "fixed" and came back to play in the SAME GAME. Take the cages off the indoor helmets, take a shot to the face and then talk about how lax is tougher. Until then, don't. | | | | | Reply to this |

| | | hockey fight vs lacrosse fight by pat (#83152) on 11/03/06 @2:06PM | | | | one huge difference, ICE. ask any pro fighter, boxer, etc and they will tell you that the majority of their punching strength comes from their legs and being planted well behind the punch. can't do that as well on ice, so no matter how fast your arm is moving, there is a lot less behind it. not often thought about but ask a hockey player if he would rather get hit from a punch from a guy on ice vs a guy on solid turf, and he will side with the punch from a guy on ice. This is why you will see more knockout stength punches in NLL vs NHL. hard to knock a guy out when sliding on ice. Brendan Shanahan plays NHL, but also owns the Toronto Rock. words from his mouth are that he wouldnt last two minutes out there with most of these guys on his team. i will take his word since he is nasty at indoor and hockey. | | | | | Reply to this |

| | | | thanks pat by Walleye (#85514) on 11/03/06 @2:13PM | | | | pat clearly hit the nail on the head here. what is below your feet makes a huge difference. both sports are equally tough for different reasons, but in terms of fights, indoor fights take the cake. | | | | | Reply to this |

| | | | | (no subject) by x2laxer (#38132) on 11/06/06 @1:23PM | | | | You guys may be right about the fighting aspect, but read that this story says that fight "clearly demonstrates why some people think lacrosse is tougher than hockey". No it doesn't. The fighting may be more brutal, but I don't think either sport is necessarily "tougher" than the other. I was just pointing out that there are other aspects to NHL that make it just as tough as lax. Indoor laxers don't have to worry about taking a shot or check to the grill. Most NHL'ers do. I've taken lax balls to the body and pucks to the body. I'll take the lax ball any day. That in my mind is another aspect of the sport that makes it hockey players tough. Toughness is not defined solely by fighting. You have to take everything into consideration. That's my point. | | | | | Reply to this |

| | | | (no subject) by x2laxer (#38132) on 11/06/06 @1:25PM | | | | Well, I should recant, I wouldn't give the nod to either. I'm in total agreeance w/ you, it doesn't matter b/c both take some cajones to play. But, there are people in this world that need to classify "their sport" as being tougher than others. | | | | | Reply to this |
