 | Venues by TOTC (#2360) on 5/15/00 @2:20PM | | | | I think that there have been some real slam-dunks when it comes to venues for MLL. If the Columbus franchise can get Columbus Crew Stadium for its games, I think it will make an even better lax venue than a soccer venue.
I haven't been to Buffalo's park (I think it is where the Bison play baseball, yes?), but it will draw Native Americans and Canadians into the league, which I think is a good thing.

 | Enough by shocks (#1383) on 5/16/00 @11:41PM | | | | Nobody cares about the MLL. You couldn't pay people to a watch a top club game, and they're free, so why in the world would they shell out cash for an outdoor league? The whole operation will probably end up like a rock'n'jock softball game with stupid cloned MTV promotions. You heard it hear first - John Stamos, special guest midfielder. | | | | | Reply to this |

| | | enough? by Skutchylax30 (#3061) on 5/17/00 @9:07AM | | | | The MLL is the best thing to happen to the sport of professional lacrosse ever...how can you say it will flop? I will gladly shell out however much it is for a ticket to see the top players in the country. Are you insanely cynical or do you hate the prospect of organized professional lacrosse? I will garuantee you that the stadiums will be sold out everywhere...you heard it here first-MLL is on the rise and will challange the 4 top major sports. | | | | | Reply to this |

 | shocks is mistaken by booya (#2142) on 5/17/00 @11:32AM | | | | First, off, I think some players get better after college. Second, I think some players are natural free-wheeling, transition players, which is an ability that is often stifled by some of today's coaches and teams. I think MLL lax could be a place where some of the more creative and athletic players could let loose, and transition teams could run s&!* a la the NBA. Lacrosse is most similar to basketball with regard to skill, creativity and transition. There are countless college star players that were typical, high-skill, straight-shooters in NCAA hoops and when they got to the NBA, they sucked or they filled roles(Trajan Langdon, Bobby Hurley, Jacques Vaughn, Kurt Thomas, Hubert Davis, etc.). I mean, I knew Vince Carter was a sick athlete before he got to the NBA, but not that sick, and Jamison's just another 15 ppg guy. Enough of the hoops though. I think the MLL will welcome a looser, transition-oriented game, and I think people will fill the seats to see the athletes they know about, and the athletes that they never knew about. | | | | | Reply to this |
