Georgetown Grad Hired as Men's Lacrosse Assistant
Coach
ITHACA, N.Y. - Scott Urick, a two-time All-America
selection as captain of the Georgetown Hoyas, was named
part-time assistant coach of the Cornell University men's
lacrosse team, it was announced Aug. 30 by head coach Jeff
Tambroni. Urick's primary responsibility will be working with
the Big Red attack.
"Having a player of Scott's ability on the coaching staff will pay
immediate dividends in the offensive end," Tambroni said.
"His blue-collar style of play certainly fits the personality and
character of the program."
Urick, a 2000 graduate with a bachelor's degree in government,
led the Hoyas to the NCAA tournament in each of the last four
seasons, including the 1999 Final Four. As captain in each of
the last two seasons, Urick was voted to the All-America
squad. He was also selected to the All-ECAC squad and
participated in the North-South all-star game last season.
Urick, a native of Fairfax, Va., helped rewrite the Georgetown
record book during his career. He set the single-season marks
for both goals (47) and ground balls (97) in 1999, a season
which culminated with Urick being named to the NCAA
all-tournament team, and he left the Hoyas with the career
record for both goals (144) and ground balls (224). |
