UNC Announces Fall Men's Lacrosse Recruits

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - University of North Carolina men’s lacrosse coach John Haus announced Wednesday that nine prospective student-athletes have signed letters of intent to attend the University next fall and join the men’s lacrosse program. These nine prospects comprise Haus’s first recruiting class as the Tar Heels’ head mentor. Haus, a 1983 graduate of UNC who played on a pair of NCAA championship teams as a Tar Heel, came to Carolina as head coach this past June after four years as head coach at Washington College and two years as head coach at Johns Hopkins University. “I am pleased with this group,” says Haus. “I am grateful that there was so much interest shown in North Carolina in this recruiting period. That shows that people are gravitating towards our program and there is great excitement about what we are trying to do here in Chapel Hill.”

Paul Burnett(Severna Park, MD - Severna Park High School) - Midfield/Attack, 5-9, 175, also played football and basketball, member of 1999 Bay State Team, nephew of UNC All-America attackman Michael Burnett, 1983.

Charles T. Conkling, Jr. (Lutherville, MD - St. Paul’s) – Defenseman, 6-1, 175, 2nd Team All-Metro 2000, 1st Team All-City/County 2000, 1st Team Towson Times 2000 Boys All- Star Team; also plays football.

David DiBianco (Washington, DC – Landon HS) – Defenseman, 6-1, 185, also plays football, basketball, winner of James Weiss Sportsmanship Award, captain of Landon’s 2001 lacrosse team.

Drew Habeck (Crownsville, MD - Severn School) – Attackman, 6-1, 195, also played football; 2nd Team All-County as sophomore, 1st Team All-County and Mullinix Award Winner (leading scorer in county) as junior.

Teddy Hayes (Chevy Chase, MD – Landon HS) – Midfielder, 6-2, 180, also plays football and ice hockey; 2000-01 lacrosse captain; Bay State All-Star Team; 205 All-State team; uncle Webb Hays played lacrosse at UNC; sister Susan Hayes plays field hockey at UNC.

Jordan Joshua LaSeta (Phoenix, MD - Boys Latin) – Defenseman, 6-1, 190; Also plays soccer; 2nd team All-County in lacrosse; Loch Raven All-Star; Bay State ‘99 Team.

Michael McCall (Yorktown, NY – Yorktown HS) – Attackman, 5-10, 170; also plays football and runs track and cross country; All-Section, All-Gannet Honorable Mention Team.

Jed. B. Prossner (Easton, MD – McDonough) – Attackman, 6-2, 175; also plays varsity soccer.

Bryant Will (Phoenix, MD – Dulaney) – Midfielder, Considered by many to be the top high school midfielder in the country; younger brother of UNC sophomore attackman Steven Will.

Finally a decent class of recruits

 As a student at UNC and son of a 4 year all-american who still has many records at UNC, I am glad to see that all the players are from Md and the North. Klarmen's dumb @@# always got guys from Chapel Hill High, Charlotte, and even Greensboro like we could ever compete with players like that.
