Lehigh Shows Air Force How To Fly
by mike on February 25, 2000

The Lehigh laxers started the game with an opening faceoff win and jetted down field to Air Force's home base. They worked the ball around for less than a minute before Hernan Zapata put home the first goal and started his senior year out with the right stuff. Seven goals later, the end of the quarter brought on a defensive change from the Falcons. They switched from man to zone, and it proved to stop the bleeding over the course of the game -- although it's difficult to say if the zone was that effective or the Mountain Hawks simply let up a little after sensing they could toy with their prey.

At the end of the half, with the score 10-0, the Falcons had some time to regroup. They came out inspired as John Agnew fed Nicholas Dipoma for Air Force's first tally of the day. Shortly thereafter, attackman Eric Lederer picked off a clearing attempt, proceeded in one on one with goalie Todd Shcreiner, faked high and shot low. For that split second it seemed as if the Falcons were going to mount a comeback. You could feel the momentum shift. Even though they were down by nine goals it seemed as if things might start going their way. Shcreiner put an end to all that with the save of the day as he smothered the low attempt.

Doug Mckerns notched four goals while David Cohen helped on five and tallied one of his own for the Lehigh squad. Notable mention for Air Force was John Agnew, who managed to hold his own against the best player in this contest, defenseman Tim Gosser. Tim looked like he was playing in a completely different game as he wasted every other opponent, but Agnew stood his ground and did not shy away. In fact he was involved in every goal his team scored.

The most impressive part of the game was Lehigh's man down unit. There was a stretch in the third quarter when they received five or so penalties and they were thriving on it. No goals were allowed during that period, and they were even down two men at one point.

Tats, you can play anywhere because you see the field as good as anyone. You understand the game. If you get better stick skills you could definitely not only play, but excel at Lehigh.

Listen kid, they might be D-1 but they blow. If you cannot play there you should cut the strings out of your stick and hang yourself with them!

Rethink

loafer, you might wanna rethink your statement about Lehigh. We're 3-0 now, ranked no 18 in the coaches poll after an impressive win over Towson. Obviously you need to learn a little more about the game and the teams who play it before you make such bold statements about Division I teams. And by the way, where do you play?

You beat Air Force, Towson, and Mount Saint Mary's. Very impresive Buddy, but being # 18 in the world of college lacrosse does not make you a powerhouse. You play VMI, is that a joke? I no longer play in college since I already graduated wise ass.
