Greyhounds Dominate Blue Hens in Season Opener by doug on February 26, 2000 The Greyhounds scored the first four goals of the game and never looked back. While both teams suffered major losses from 1999 graduation after losing in the NCAA Quarterfinals at Princeton, it seems as if the two teams may be heading in different directions in 2000. Loyola's offense looked solid with a great deal of control as the Greyhounds generated much of their attack from behind with big attackman #10 - Tim Goettelmann. Loyola gained great matchups on the offensive end by running attackmen #4 - Bobby Horsey and #5 Gunnar Goettelmann out of the box and landing them with shortstick midfielders. All-American Midfielder #44 Mike Battista also helped Loyola control the game and was one of the more dominating players on the field today, leading Loyola in scoring with 3 goals and 1 assist. Although Delaware's defense let up 14 goals today, it is definitely the strong point of the team. Close defenseman Bryan Barrett and longstick midfielder John Ciliberto both played strong defensive games for the Hens. Delaware's offense looked a little uncomfortable and were unable to convert on a lot of open looks at the goal. | | | Reply to this story > | |
 | Loyola Rules by hounds (#591) on 2/26/00 @7:20PM | | | | Loyola is amazing and will have another shot at the title this year. They just broke an NCAA regular season winning streak, the teams 24th straight win with more to come..beating Princeton's 23 game winning streak. | | | | | Reply to this |

| | | Wow I didn't know that. by Bad Bad Leroy Brown (#507) on 2/26/00 @9:39PM | | | | You know why I didn't know that? Because the regular season doesn't matter. Wasn't Loyola #1 a couple of years ago when they got hammered by Maryland in the semis? The Greyhounds are obviously a good team, but until they win a championship they will never be on the same level as a Princeton or Syracuse. Just like how Virginia was the Atlanta Braves of the NCAAs until last year when they won it. | | | | | Reply to this |

| | | | | loyola's 3rd period by weswie (#46379) on 3/09/03 @1:31PM | | | | loyola, two years ago, when the play princeton int he tornament. was holding the lead going into the halftime...after the 3rd the lost it, and came a goal shy in the 4th to loose to princeton by 1...as in my of the loyola games, the greyhounds jsut couldnt pull it together in the 3rd...if loyola could had kept the 3rd period strong and played a full game...they would be in dynasty right now...with the lost of their coach to MD, has shown not to the best thing for program last yr...but we can hope that this yr will be better...
