Navy rocks UMBC
by john on February 27, 2000

Starting off quickly for Navy was sophmore attackman Eddie McKinnon who scored in the first sixty one seconds of the first quarter. Navy then continued to dominate with stifling defense and great ball control on offense, ending the half with a five to two lead. The second half was much of the same, with Navy scoring five straight goals in the third quarter; taking advantage of the Retiever's inability to hold the ball on offense and poor shot selection. High scorer on the day was sophmore Eddie Mckinnon, who led the team with three goals and three assists. Eddie let out after the game "I was ready for this game. I was and our whole team was looking forward to this game all week." Even though Mckinnon had a great game, coach Meade insisted it was his team's effort that should be the story. Meade: "Everybody played well today, I think we had three or four hustle goals from our ride alone, our ball movement and patience was also excellent. I was really pleased today with our performance." As for the UMBC's coach Zimmerman, he could not be reached for comment, but I can assure you he was not as pleased with his team's effort.
