Denver won the opening face off, but Lehigh scored first with a goal by junior attackman Gabe Osorio. Osorio followed with another goal less than one minute later to give Lehigh a 2-0 lead. Law opened the scoring for Denver with a unassisted goal 8:36 into the first. Lehigh answered back with the first of three goals by senior attackman Mark Okrent. Denver ended the first quarter scoring with a goal by sophomore midfielder Mike Kenlay assisted by sophomore attackman Adam Stifel with 11 seconds left.

Twenty-five seconds into the second quarter Lehigh extended its lead 4-2, with a extra man goal by senior midfielder Brandon Wenk. DU answered with its own extra man goal scored by Law at 6:31 into the second. The score remained 4-3 until Lehigh junior attackman Matt Testa scored their fifth and final goal of the half with 3:55 remaining. Lehigh defensemen Tim Gosser dropped the ball into his own goal when attempting to clear it. The goal was credited to DU attackmen Alex Stanton, making the score 5-4 Lehigh at the half.

Denver opened the scoring in the second half with an extra man goal scored by sophomore attackman MacAdory Lipscomb 1:38 into the quarter. The next seven minutes belonged to Lehigh. They scored three goals, including two by junior attackman Christian Castellani. With the score 8-5, DU needed to turn it up to remain in the game. With a very boisterous crowd behind them, DU scored the next six goals. Travis Taylor started the scoring with a feed from Law with 4:23 left in the third. Long stick midfielder Kenny Crowley ripped one from the top of the box, pulling the Pioneers within one. Law struck again picking the upper right corner with :18 seconds remaining to knot the score at eight.

Denver continued to roll beginning the fourth with 2 more goals by Law and one by Taylor. Lehigh finally stopped DU's run with a goal 5:48 into the fourth. Denver extended its lead to 13-9 with a extra man goal by Stifel and an unassisted goal by junior attackman Chad Wittman. With five minutes remaining it seemed that Denver's lead was insurmountable, but Lehigh wasn't about to lay down. They scored three of the next four goals closing to within two goals, 14-12. Time was not on their side today as the game ended before Lehigh could come up with two more goals. Despite the loss, Lehigh looked to be a team that could easily be a contender. Lehigh will be looking to even up their record with a win over Air Force tomorrow.
