Maryland Dominates Air Force 16-3

Both teams started off slow, but Maryland struck first with Mollot's first goal at 3:59 into the first. The score remained 1-0 until 9:48 into the quarter when Air Force attackman John Agnew found the net. That was as close as Air Force would get all day. Maryland took the lead for good on Mollot's 2nd goal (assited by midfielder Dan LaMonica) at 11:53 mark. Maryland finished the quarter with Mollot assisting on a James Daue goal.

The second quarter was all Terps. They scored seven unawsered goals, pushing their lead to 10-1 at half. Mollot started the quarter with his 3rd goal, followed by the first of 5 goals for senior co-caption Andrew Combs. Marland struck quickly and often in the 2nd, including 2 goals in 13 seconds by Combs and LaMonica midway through the quarter. The half ended on LaMonica's second goal, which was assisted by freshman midfielder Ian Heely. The Terps were in control heading into the locker room.

The second half continued as the first left off for Maryland. Two quick goals by Combs extended their lead to 12-1. Air Force was able to answer back with a goal by Sophomore attackman Kyle Warf at 6:42 into the 3rd, and soon after, in an effort to slow down Maryland's offense, the Falcons switched from man to zone. It did little to shake the Terps up. Maryland led 14-3 at the end of three.

With the game already in hand, Terps polished off the Falcons with two unanswered goals in the fourth for the 16-3 final. Maryland out-shot Air Force 48-18, and dominated ground balls 52-34. Maryland now must prepare for the Denver Pioneers tomorrow.

although maryland was playing against Air Force, LaMonica had a terrific game. He'd be starting as quaterback of the maryland offense if it wasn't for the dazzling #1 mike mollot. LaMonica-freshman of the year
