At the 2017 Patriot Cup, held at The Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas, the 12th ranked Stanford Cardinal women's lacrosse team taking on the tenth ranked Duke Blue Devils in an non-conference showdown. The Blue Devils hold a 6-0 lifetime record against the Cardinal, with the last meeting coming back in 2014 during the NCAA playoffs. In a game that was tied at eight apiece heading into the final ten minutes, junior Maddie Crutchfield scored two of her game high five goals to help lead Duke to a 12-8 victory. The Blue Devils also dominated on the draw, winning 17-22 taken in the game. With the win, Duke moves to 4-0 on the season with a matchup against Notre Dame looming next at home.
