team florida lax tryouts

Check out this highlight from the Team Florida try-outs in Jupiter, Florida. Some of the top players in Florida try their skills to be selected to the team. This summer they want to make themselves and Florida lax better. Some great shots and insight from the founders of Florida lacrosse as well.

whipple is the real deal, but coming from a family that has more cny roots than the trees in the 'dacks, he's an exception to the talent that ive seen in fl.
Florida produces a few exceptional players year to year ( ie, the bernhardts at MD), but ive seen a lot of solid specialization players. FOGOs, LSMs, goalies; i've seen great ones of out FL. But as a whole, that vid hurts to watch, but its as truthful as it gets.

and i love stringing whipples sticks haha. florida has been growing exponentially every single year. theyre really developing some solid players. there were definitely some great specialization players out there and some great players to watch.

the thing that will really hinder the growth down there is football, if I am correct they do spring high school football, and you get the typical idiot football coach that doesn't want football players doing anything else other than playing football and lifting non stop, while in reality they don't realize that lax is a great cross training sport with pursuit angles, hitting etc

I don't know if they do spring football down there, I can't really say, but one reason lacrosse isn't growing the way it should be is because of other coaches.. It happens everywhere.. my brother is only in 8th grade and yet some coaches are trying to pressure him and his friends to stick to only football or basketball, etc. I mean the sport is growing quickly but if we get rid of those obsessive coaches we can get a lot more lax players

i live in florida and every single school in the state has a football program.. they have a season from august to november and then they do spring football for 3 weeks in may. coaches are always telling football players interested in lacrosse that they are wasting their time. one of our football coaches also made a few of the lacrosse players come in the mornings and do weight lifting DURING lacrosse seasons its so gay

I may not live in Florida, but i do live in San Diego and my football team has a spring football program. My coach knows about lacrosse and other sports may conflict with spring football and he knows the other sports come first. I also did weight training during lacrosse season and it really isn't a bad thing to work out during lacrosse season. I don't know about football coaches in Florida but i do know that almost every san diego football coach knows that his players play other sports, and he encourages it.

Great to see some improvement in Florida lax, but you think they can compete with teams from NY, MA, etc...
