Washington, D.C. - Junior Dan D'Agnes (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) scored five goals and freshman Craig Dowd (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) added four goals as seventh-ranked Georgetown scored five times in the third quarter and three more times in the fourth to pull away for a 15-13 ECAC Lacrosse League win over Hobart on Sunday afternoon.

The game had originally been scheduled to be played at Hobart, but inclement weather in upstate New York forced the game to be moved to the Hilltop. It was the second-straight win for the Hoyas, who improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the ECAC, while the Statesmen fall to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.

The game was tied at halftime (7-7), but the Hoyas scored five times in the third quarter to take a 12-10 advantage going into the final quarter. Hobart, however, received unassisted goals from Chris David and Nick Currie to tie the game at 12 apiece, the latter coming with 11:33 to play. Just under two minutes later, D'Agnes scored an unassisted goal at 9:44 to break the tie and senior Garrett Wilson (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Epsicopal Academy) took a feed from senior Trevor Casey (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) at 9:05, extending the lead to 14-12.

A goal from Hobart's Daryl Veltman pulled the Statesmen to within one with 5:49 to play, but D'Agnes made a nifty move in front of the net and put the Hoyas ahead 15-13 with 3:27 to play. Senior Christiaan Trunz (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) won the ensuing face-off - one of 20 wins at the X for him - and the Hoyas maintained possession in the final minutes to seal the win.

Goals from Veltman and Currie had given Hobart an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Hoyas got on the board and knotted the game as Dowd scored a pair of goals in 54 seconds, taking feeds from junior Brendan Cannon (Haverford, Pa./The Haverford School). Jeff Colburn responded with a pair of goals as the Statesmen took a 4-2 lead, but D'Agnes came back with two of his own, one assisted by Cannon. A goal from David gave Hobart a 5-4 lead after the first quarter.

Freshman Andrew Brancaccio (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) scored at 13:13 of the second quarter to knot the game at 5-all and the team traded goals over the final four minutes before halftime, heading into the break tied at 7-all. Freshman Scott Kocis (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington), with an assist from junior Andrew Baird (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield), and Brancaccio, with an assist from sophomore Cullen Molinari (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) scored goals for the Hoyas.

Nick Currie notched an unassisted goal at the 12:07 of the third quarter to give Hobart an 8-7 advantage as he ripped a shot past junior goalie Miles Kass (Rye, N.Y./Hotchkiss) from just outside of 10 yards out. After D'Agnes scored his third goal of the game at 7:23 of the third quarter, Hobart went ahead again, 9-8, on a goal from Mike Lazore. Baird tied the game at 9-all at 5:36 and the Hoyas scored three of the final four goals in the quarter - with Dowd scoring twice and Baird adding another - to take a 12-10 lead.

D'Agnes scored five goals to lead the Hoyas, while Dowd scored four times and had one assist, Baird added two and two assists, Brancaccio scored twice and Kocis and Wilson each tallied one goal. Cannon and Molinari each registered three assists and Casey had one. Kass made nine saves for the Hoyas and the team won 21-of-31 face-offs, with Trunz winning 20.

Georgetown has now won 12-straight games against the Statesmen and ended Hobart's three-game win streak.
