On a typical gray and wet Gettysburg day the #2 Gettysburg Bullets jumped all over the visiting #3 Middlebury Panthers early in the first half and were successful in withstanding a late second half surge to come out on top 10-6. Gettysburg built a 6-2 halftime lead and looked to continue their dominance in the second half but Holt Hopkins and the Panthers put together a strong 4 goal spurt to make the game interesting.

The Bullets came out flying with #1-Charlie Hanchett(1g-0a) starting the Gettysburg scoring with a righty jumpshot that found the top right corner off a #38-Matt Twombly(1g-1a) feed, and was followed by a #33-Wes Cadman(1g-0a)unsettled bounce shot goal. Although Gettysburg failed on two man-up situations in the first quarter they capitalized on their rides with #18-Ross Garretson(3g-2a) scoring two unsettled one-on-one goals off of two successful Gettysburg rides. The first quarter ended with Gettysburg leading 4-0 over Middlebury. The first quarter saw the Panthers come out extremely flat and the Bullets clicking all over the field and in good control of the game's momentum.

Early in the second the Bullets bumped their lead up to 5-0 after #6-Kevin Callahan(1g-0a) dodged and pushed the ball to Garretson who then skipped the ball across the entire field to #16-Pete Milliman(2g-2a) who finished low and away. It wasn't until the 11:18 mark of the second quarter that Middlebury was able to get onto the scoreboard with a #2-Holt Hopkins(4g-0a) lefty rocket on a Middlebury man-up situation. Gettysburg answered Hopkins first goal with a Twombly goal off a Milliman feed, with Middlebury coming back right before the end of the first half as #15-David Seeley(1g-1a) finished from behind. The first half was all Gettysburg as they controlled both ends of the field and built a solid 6-2 halftime lead. The Bullets were able to settle the ball down on the offensive end and were able to get plenty of solid looks at the goal. The game was dominated by the home team Bullets clicking on offense and holding Middlebury to very little on defense. Middlebury seemed slowed by the wet field conditions and were unable to get any steady flow on the offense going in the first half and had few answers on defense.

Gettysburg came out of the locker room strong scoring the first three goals of the second half and uping their second-half lead to 9-2. Just when the game looked like it was about to get out of hand, Middlebury put a late third/early fourth quarter run together. Hopkins scored on the crease(9-3), followed by a #10-Greg Carrol goal off a Seeley feed which put the game at 9-4 going into the fourth. Hopkins then scored two more goals early in the fourth quarter to cut the Gettysburg lead to 9-6. As the game's momentum appeared to be shifting towards the visiting team the Bullets took it right back. Gettysburg took the ball behind and knocked good chunks of the clock off with everyone of their remaining possessions. Field general Kevin Callahan looked to run a majority of the settled offense from behind with short-stick midfielders on him. The Bullets were able to build on their 3 goal lead as Milliman picked off a cross field clear and finished the ball high to stop the Panthers 4 goal scoring spurt and put the game away. #2 Gettysburg wins 10-6 over #3 Middlebury.
