| Cannon wins MLL Offensive Player of the Year for third time Thursday, August 23, 2012 1:49:40 PM Surprise, surprise, Paul Rabil took home top honors this year in the MLL, when the league announced Wednesday that he had won the Warrior Offensive Player of the Year Award. This marks the third time in four seasons that Rabil has snagged the title, joining John Grant Jr. as the only other player to be at the top of the game thrice. In the league's press release, they stated that the award was given after tallying votes from the general managers and head coach of each team. Rabil said, "I'm very honored and humbled to have earned the Offensive Player of the Year award. It's always rewarding to receive individual achievements from all the hard work I put in each year,” according to the release. Sure it is, Mr. Lacrosse. It's like you're the only one out there sometimes. Rabil has had an epic season. Not wanting to share too much of the spotlight with his predecessor Grant Jr., Rabil broke his single-season scoring record by one measly point, putting himself at lacrosse's pinnacle. The league also reported that Rabil was among just three players in the MLL to notch a point in all 14 of their team's games. Rabil did them one better by scoring at least two a game. As we head into the Warrior Championship Weekend on the Cannons turf, Harvard Stadium, Boston will square off to defend their 2011 title as a team, and Rabil will be right there with them - or in front of them, screaming down the field and whipping shots at the Bayhawks' goalie. |
