|TOWSON MEN’S LACROSSE RETURN TO “THE PROGRAM”|
Tigers will Participate in the “Foundation” Segment of Training
TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men’s lacrosse team will once again participate in “The Program,” a leadership and team building organization conducted by former military special operations warriors, Division I and professional athletes and corporate leaders, it has been announced Head Coach Shawn Nadelen.
“Having ‘The Program’ work with our lacrosse team has been a terrific experience,” said Nadelen. “’The Program’ has engaged our players to approach adverse situations with an ATTACK mindset. Our players have learned they possess more inside of them than what they may have previously thought. They have learned being a great teammate is crucial to the success of the team. We had a great experience with ‘The Program’ last year and are anticipating an even better experience with them this year.”
On September 10 starting at 6 a.m., the Tiger men’s lacrosse team will work with “The Program” to complete “The Foundation.” This segment is designed to cover topics like levels of leadership, effective relationships, motivation and values in a small group setting. An hour of physically demanding tasks and exercise designed to promote teamwork will precede the classroom work.
Last fall, the Tigers participated in the “Judgment Day” portion of the training. The first day began with team calisthenics and individual-led exercise. The team was then divided into eight groups to complete log workouts, fireman carries, and 50-yard sandbag carries. On thesecond day, the Tigers jumped in the swimming pool and participated in timed and coordinated exercises designed to push them to continually improve their times and work together to finish before the final whistles.
“The Program” was founded in 2008 with the mission of providing the best leadership and team building available. The organization designs personalized leadership and development training to challenge participants to get “that much better.” “The Program” challenges participants mentally and physically to help them become better leaders and teammates. The trainings are designed to force individuals and teams to work together through shared adversity.
