NJIT men's lacrosse fell 20-4 to an undefeated Hofstra team on Tuesday night at James M. Shuart Stadium. The Highlanders (0-4) were led by Ryan Darrow who scored a goal and added two assists. Scoring NJIT's other three goals, which were all extra man goals were Aaron Forster, Ryan Callaghan and Jacob Sieber. The Pride (3-0) received goals from 11 different goal scorers led by Josh Byrne who tallied seven goals and two assists while Ryan Tierney added three goals and two assists. The Highlanders kept the game close in the first quarter, keeping Hofstra to just two goals. Darrow opened up the scoring for the Highlanders in the second, when he beat his defender and took a shot from 12 yards out, to make the score 4-1. With five unanswered goals by The Pride and a two man advantage, Forster gave the Highlanders their second goal of the game off a pass from Darrow. Hofstra added on two more goals to make the score 11-2 going into halftime. The Pride scored another three goals in the third to extend their lead 14-2. Sieber's goal came in the fourth when he fired a laser into the upper right hand corner during a man up opportunity for NJIT. With seven seconds to go in the fourth Callaghan scored another man up goal for the Highlanders. Hofstra would put up another six goals in the fourth for the final 20-4 score. In goal Highlanders Nick Marzullo and Cameron Cronk split time evenly, each playing half a game and each posting five saves. Jack Concannon won his third game of the year and notched six saves in 45 minutes, while teammate Robert Casey came in for the fourth and grabbed stopped one shot. The Highlanders host their first home game on Saturday March 4 hosting Quinnipiac at Drew University's Ranger Stadium at 12pm. The first 100 fans who attend will receive an NJIT pair of socks, and NJIT pair of gloves or an NJIT beanie.
