The Villanova Wildcats picked up their third conference win of the season on Saturday afternoon during a 16-5 win over St. John's. The Wildcats came out strong scoring their first two goals on the first two shots of the game. Patrick Daly set up Keegan Khan for the first while Daly netted the second to push Villanova up just over two minutes in. Eric Overbay set up Corey McManus just over a minute later for the third goal of the quarter and Jack Kinnear netted an unassisted goal right after. Matt Campbell scored his 26th of the season with just over nine to play and after TJ Comizio set up McManus for a break away one-on-one goal at that 5:14 mark. St. John's scored the final goal of the quarter on a man-up opportunity with Mike Madsen assisting Colin Duffy. The Wildcats led 6-1 at the end of the first. Villanova kept the scoring going into the second netting the first four goals of the quarter. Khan set up Daly, McManus, and Connor Kirst on the run. The other goal was also scored by McManus, but it was Kirst who has the dish. This pushed the Villanova lead to 10-1 with just over 4:30 to play before halftime. Joe Madsen netted the second Red Storm goal when he came around from the back of the cage and got a shot to go past. Making the score 10-2 Villanova at half. Kirst found the back of the cage to start of the third quarter then the Red Storm's Mike Madsen scored one and then assisted Ryan Shaefer's goal to make the score 11-4. TJ Comizio set up Daly for a goal at the 1:42 mark to end an over 12-minute scoreless run by the Wildcats. This sparked the offense once again with Campbell setting up Kirst and Timmy Hardy for EMO goals to open the fourth before netting an unassisted goal of his own to push Villanova up 15-4. St. John's scored a man-up goal at the 4:41 mark but the Wildcats would have the final goal when Stelios Kroudis set up Chet Comizio for both their first career points. Dan Fisher and Zack Ornstein both has a successful day at the center X going a combined 17-for-24 with 12 ground balls. Will Vitton got his seventh win between the posts and finished with 17 saves while Paul Egloff came in to close out the game in goal and had one save. TJ Comizio moved into third all-time in career caused turnovers, he now has 58 over his four seasons. Villanova will close out the regular season next weekend on the road at Providence.
