The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (4-10, 1-4 AE) fell to No. 2 Albany (11-1, 4-1 AE) 18-7 at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium on Friday evening. "I thought we competed and hung tough today," said head coach Kevin McKeown. We were a little worn down in the fourth quarter and it hurt us. Albany is a very good team and they controlled the ball well. I am proud of our guys for their effort out there today." Joe Licata netted three goals and Stephen Petrelli had two. Kevin Carbone made 17 saves and picked up three ground balls. Albany got on the board first, netting two quick goals. Sean Makar answered for Binghamton, scoring on a pass from Stephen Petrelli with 3:33 remaining in the first period. The Great Danes scored two more times to end the period with a 4-1 advantage. Joe Licata netted his first of the day to kick off the second period and pull the Bearcats back within two goals. Albany then scored five straight to increase their lead to 9-2. Licata and Petrelli posted goals for Binghamton before the half. The teams entered the locker room with Albany leading 10-4. The Great Danes scored the first goal of the second half. Licata netted his third of the day less than a minute later. Albany added two more to take a 13-5 lead over Binghamton heading into the final period. Albany scored five times in the fourth period and Binghamton scored twice. Thomas McAndrew and Petrelli each netted unassisted goals to increase the Binghamton total to seven. The Great Danes won the contest 18-7. The Bearcats will close out the regular season next Friday when they host Stony Brook at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The conference game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
