TD Ierlan had a fantastic night in a 10-5 win and his return to Albany. The face-off specialist won 16 of 17 on the X and added a goal as the No. 4 Yale Men's Lacrosse Team (9-2) won its third straight game. The Bulldogs' defense and sophomore goaltender Jack Starr held the Great Danes scoreless for almost the entirety of the first half. Starr stopped all five shots on target in the first quarter, which helped the Elis gain momentum after Albany dominated possession in the first half. Starr finished with 11 saves, his sixth game with 10-plus stops this season. It took more than 14 minutes, but the Elis opened the scoring on an extra-man opportunity with a tally from Brendan Rooney, who finished a one-touch on the edge of the crease after a great Jackson Morrill pass. This was the only scoring from the first quarter. The Elis, fighting through the rain all game, kept the momentum rolling with a goal from Brian Tevlin, who had two in the game, and then Rooney scored his second EMO goal of the night. Ierlan, who played the last two years at Albany, added to his fantastic night by taking his own face-off win and running down the right side of the field, before cutting back to the middle and finishing top-shelf from the edge of the crease with just under five minutes left in the half. He was also perfect in the first half from the X, with his only loss through 60 minutes coming at the start of the third quarter. Albany, which lost to Yale in the 2018 NCAA Semifnals, added two of their own with under two minutes left in the first half, cutting the Bulldog lead to 6-2. The Great Danes then opened the scoring in the third quarter, continuing their 3-0 run. The Elis had to answer to stop the momentum, so Matt Brandau answered the call and finished a feed from Joseph Sessa with just under five minutes left in the third. Tevlin scored his second of the night on a high bounce shot, and Jack Tigh scored two in a row to open the fourth quarter. This gave the Bulldogs a 10-3 lead.
