Quinnipiac had won its last six games played on campus, back in 2016 when it won the conference championship and an opening round NCAA Tournament game at its old home stadium. Last year, the Bobcats played all of their home games at Yale while the new stadium was constructed. The Bobcats led 10-5 with 8:59 left in the third quarter on a goal from junior attackman Mike Fletcher (Syracuse, N.Y.) before UMass Lowell scored the next four goals to pull within 10-9. Junior attackman Foster Cuomo (Oakville, Ontario) ended the UMass Lowell run with a goal to put the Bobcats ahead 11-9 with 5:46 remaining, but Sam Klingsporn pulled the River Hawks back within 11-10. Freshman attackman Jake Tomsik came back 25 seconds later to restore a 12-10 lead with 2:32 to go, his fourth goal of the game, but UMass Lowell's Sean Tyrrell scored two straight goals to tie it up with 1:09 to go, scoring the tying goal into an empty net after a Bobcat turnover in their own end. Quinnipiac won the ensuing faceoff, but turned the ball over after a timeout. UMass Lowell got the successful clear, and the Bobcats were flagged for an offsides penalty on the final possession. When the game went to overtime, UMass Lowell was awarded possession due to the penalty and took just eight seconds to score the game-winner.as Jon Phillips scored from the right side of the cage off a pass from Jake Lining. Quinnipiac roared out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter, with freshman Sam Witt (Boxborough, Mass.) scoring the first goal at the new stadium 3:48 in off a Tomsik feed. Five different players scored in the first quarter for the Bobcats, with senior midfielder Brian Feldman (Canandaigua, N.Y.). junior midfielder Matt Frost (Spring Lake, N.J.), Tomsik, and sophomore midfielder Tyler Mackay (Oakville, Ont.) all finding the net. After UMass-Lowell scored the first goal of the second quarter, Tomsik scored two straight to give the Bobcats a 7-2 lead, matching the largest they would have all afternoon. Feldman scored two goals on the day, giving him 97 in his career, three shy of becoming the fourth player in school history to score 100 career goals (and the third exclusively at the Division I level). Senior Carson Cocco (Westchester, Pa.) made his first career start for the Bobcats and finished with 13 saves.
