The Wildcats defeated the No. 5 Yale Bulldogs by a final of 10-9 in overtime with Danny Seibel being the hero and helping Villanova bring home the Patriot Cup. Yale’s Ben Reeves started the game off with a quick goal but the Wildcats responded with a four goal run to jump up 4-1 early in the second. Christian Cuccinello and Devin McNamara scored the first two and freshman Colin Crowley netted the final ones. Before halftime Danny Seibel would score a goal on a pass from Keegan Khan while the Bulldogs would find the back of the net three times to make the Villanova lead 6-5 after 30. Reeve’s, who scored the final goal on the second quarter, netted two more and the dished out an assist to give Yale a 8-6 lead at the end of the third. The Wildcat’s came back in the fourth just like they did two weeks ago. Seibel netted the first early in the fourth on an extra man opportunity. Next Yale would score what would be their final goal of the game to have a 9-7 lead. Seibel netted another with just over five to go on a dish from John Kluh. Freshman found freshman when Khan passed to Crowley with two minutes left to tie things up at 9. Early in overtime Villanova had a one minute extra man opportunity but couldn’t get a shot off and Yale brought the ball down. They gave the ball to Reeves who took a shot that went wide and Nick Testa was able to get ground ball and give the Wildcats another chance. TJ Comizio helped clear the ball down the field and dished it to his left to the other corner of the box to Seibel. He launched his shot instantly and it found the back of the net to give the Wildcats the win. Dan Fisher went an impressive 9-for-13 from the center X and had a team high five ground balls. Comizio had three caused turnovers and two ground balls while Owen Prybylski also forced two turnovers. Nick Testa picked up his second win of the season and had 11 saves and three ground balls. Next the Wildcats will travel to Hofstra on Saturday, February 24th. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
