Mount St. Mary's was downed by 17th-ranked Georgetown, 16-6, on Tuesday at Cooper Field. Stephano Mastro and Luke Frankeny tallied two goals apiece to lead the Mount in the contest, while Chris DiPretoro and Joe Bethke each registered a goal and one assist. Rookie Luke Mutterer made a season-high 14 saves in his second start in the Mount cage. Daniel Bucaro (3g, 1a), Jake Carraway (2g, 2a) and Craig Berge (1g, 3a) notched four points each in the victory for the Hoyas, as they improved to a perfect 4-0 on the year. Nick Marrocco stopped 11 saves to collect the win in goal. After going down 2-0 to open the contest, Bethke got the Mount (1-4) on the board with a second-chance effort after picking up his own rebound and finishing from the doorstep for the Mount's first goal at the 10:07 mark. The Hoyas tallied two more close out the first period, including Matt Behrens' goal with just 16 seconds left, to take a 4-1 advantage into the second quarter. Early in the second, Bethke found DiPretoro on the right wing, and DiPretoro fired one past Marrocco to bring the Mount within a pair, 4-2, with 12:39 on the clock. Georgetown answered with five straight goals while holding the Mount scoreless for nearly a 19-minute stretch, as the Hoyas extended their lead to 9-2 during the run. Mastro broke up the drought with his ninth goal of the season at the 8:11 mark of the third, but the Hoyas closed out the quarter with the final four goals to take a commanding 13-3 advantage into the fourth. The two teams tallied three goals apiece in the final frame, as Georgetown went on for the 16-6 victory. Mount St. Mary's is back in Emmitsburg for its next game, a matchup against VMI on Saturday, March 3 at 12 p.m.
