Jack Korzelius scored with 1.9 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to break a 12-12 tie and lift Dartmouth to a 13-12 victory over Canisius in collegiate men's lacrosse action Saturday at Scully-Fahey Field in Hanover, N.H. Krozelius' game-winning goal completed a hat trick performance for the senior midfielder as he paced a Big Green attack that also featured two-goal efforts from Matt Paul and Richie Loftus. George Prince finished with four points on a goal and a team-best three assists. Senior Ryan McKee established a new career high with five goals and sophomore Carter Stefaniak finished with a career-high five points on three goals and two assists to lead the Griffs in its debut under new head coach Mark Miyashita. Sophomore Mathieu Boissonneault chipped in two goals for Canisius while senior Connor Kearnan dished out a game-high four assists as he surpassed the 100-point plateau for his career. Krozelius' game-winning goal capped a wild fourth quarter that saw the Griffs battle back to tie the game twice before the Big Green scored with less than two seconds on the clock to claim the season opener for both programs. Tied at 10-all at the start of the final frame, Krozelius gave the Big Green an 11-10 lead with a man-up goal just 26 seconds in, only to see McKee counter for the Griffs at the 8:40 mark to knot the score at 11-all. Loftus restored Dartmouth's one-goal advantage with his second of the contest less than 90 seconds later, but McKee brought the Griffs level for the second time in the quarter with a man-up goal with 1:13 to play, setting up Krozelius' heroics. Earlier in the contest, Canisius trailed 5-1 early in the second quarter before back-to-back tallies from McKee and Stefaniak sparked a stretch that saw the Griffs score five of the next six goals to tie the game at 6-all. Dartmouth responded to the Canisius charge with three unanswered goals over a 6:02 span to take a 9-6 lead early in the third. The Griffs countered the Big Green surge with a run of their own, using a pair of goals from McKee and tallies by junior Michael Sanzone and sophomore Alex Hornung to take their first lead of the game, 10-9, midway through the third. David Gallagher brought Dartmouth level, 10-10, with 3:54 remaining in the third, setting up the game's dramatic finish.
