HANOVER, N.H. – For the first time in its long and storied history, the Cornell men's lacrosse team amassed 20+ goals in three consecutive games when the 14th-ranked Big Red downed Dartmouth, 22-11, this afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field. With the win, Cornell improves to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy League. The Big Red's offense was clicking on all cylinders, as the visitors scored its 22 goals on just 27 shots on goal and assisted on 17-of-22 goals. The midfield accounted for 18 of the Big Red's goals, led by Jordan Dowiak's career-high five goals and Connor Fletcher's career-high six points (four goals, two assists). Clarke Petterson registered three goals and two assists, while freshman Jonathan Donville added three goals. Sophomore Jeff Teat handed out a game-high four assists. In total 10 Cornell players registered multi-point games, with 15 finding their way into the scoring column. For the sixth consecutive game sophomore Paul Rasimowicz dominated the face-off circle, winning 16-of-22 restarts (.727) and picking up a career-high 11 groundballs. Freshman Luca Tria also won 4-of-9 with three ground balls late in the game to help the Big Red to a 21-of-36 performance overall and a 44-33 advantage on ground balls. Sophomore goalie Caelahn Bullen improved to 3-0 on the season with eight saves and seven goals allowed in 45 minutes. Parker Henderer came on in relief and made two saves and allowed one goal in 10:09, while Teddy Strzetelski rounded out the day with two saves and three goals allowed in the final 4:51 of the contest. Dartmouth (2-6, 0-2) was led by Jack Korzelius and Liam O'Connell with three goals apiece, with three of their six goals coming in the final 4:09 of the contest, including a pair of man-up tallies. Despite the lopsided score, Dartmouth held the 37-35 edge in shots, but put just 23 on goal to the Big Red's 27. Cornell scored just 36 seconds into the game on a goal from Jake McCulloch, but just over three minutes later Korzelius knotted the game at 1-1. Both teams exchanged long offensive possessions that ended in saves before Dowiak scored off a pass from Fletcher to open up a Big Red blitz in which the visiotors scored six unanswered over the final 6:45 of the quarter, including a buzzer-beater by Dowiak to make it 7-1 at the end of the first quarter. The Big Red pushed its lead to 9-1 early in the second quarter and eventually pushed its lead to a game-high 13 goals when it took a 15-2 lead into halftime. Some sloppy play early in the third quarter led to back-to-back goals by Dartmouth, but interim head coach Peter Milliman called a timeout and the team responded with a Fletcher goal just 32 seconds later to end the Big Green run. Milliman went to the bench midway through the third and Cornell took the 19-7 lead into the final break before rolling to the 22-11 final. The Big Red returns to Ithaca for back-to-back games against Harvard on Saturday, April 7 and No. 9 Syracuse on Tuesday, April 10. The game with the Crimson is slated for 1 p.m., while Cornell will face-off with the Orange at 7 p.m.
