Austin Sims scored six goals and had an assist. Michael Sowers quarterbacked an offense that at times was unstoppable. Zach Currier racked up ground balls and face-off wins. Princeton had a seven-goal second quarter on its way to nearly 20 goals. If any of this sounds familiar, all of the above has now happened for two straight games for the Princeton men's lacrosse team. Princeton needed all of that to hold off a tough and spirited Quinnipiac team 17-13 Tuesday night on Sherrerd Field. The win improved the 19th-ranked Tigers to 4-1 on the season as they now have a week off - and a rare March Saturday without a game - until a showdown next Tuesday at Rutgers. Many of Princeton's numbers were eerily similar to Princeton's last game, an 18-7 win over Johns Hopkins this past Friday. Sims hit his directly, with his second-straight six-goal, seven-point game. Sowers had two goals - same as Hopkins - though he had four assists against Quinnipiac after having two against Hopkins. Princeton scored exactly seven second-quarter goals, just like it did against Hopkins. Currier had three assists against Quinnipiac, same as against Hopkins, to go along with 10 for 16 face-offs and nine ground balls, similar, though not exactly the same. It wasn't all identical to the Hopkins game. Charlie Durbin, who had two goals against Johns Hopkins, had a career-best four against Quinnipiac. Riley Thompson had a career-high four assists, after a one-goal, two-assist game last Friday. Princeton trailed by one three times, all in the first quarter, but the 7-1 second quarter put the Tigers on top for good. It was 10-5 Princeton at the break, and then, after the Bobcats cut it to two at 10-8, Princeton built it back to 17-10.
