EASTON, Pa. - Senior Jack Wilson scored his 100th career goal and became the program's all-time points leader as part of the Boston University men's lacrosse team's 12-8 victory at Lafayette on Saturday afternoon at Fisher Stadium. WILSON REWRITES THE RECORD BOOK Wilson became the first player in program history to score 100 career goals thanks to his second goal of the game. He then became the program's all-time points leader with his next goal, which was his 154th career point. Wilson, who extended his point streak to 53 games, now has 154 points thanks to 101 goals and 53 assists. During his point streak, Wilson has notched 93 goals and 52 assists for 145 points. Wilson has tallied 22 goals and eight assists for 30 points this year. He has notched five hat tricks and has found the back of the net in each of the last nine contests. HOW IT HAPPENED Wilson opened the scoring just 2:28 into the game, but Lafayette scored the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead with 4:09 left in the opening quarter. Freshman Chris Gray tied the game, 2-2, with 3:11 left in the frame when he came from around X and cut to the top of the crease before finding the back of the net. Lafayette grabbed a 3-2 lead to start the second quarter, but BU scored the next four goals to give itself some distance from the Leopards. Senior Hayden Ruiz assisted on the first two goals of that run, finding both Wilson and sophomore John MacLean. Gray then assisted on the next two tallies by Wilson and junior James Burr, with Lafayette adding a late goal to cut the Terrier lead to 6-4 at halftime. The teams traded goals to start the third quarter, with Ruiz scoring for BU. BU extended the lead to 9-5 entering the fourth quarter thanks to markers by Gray and MacLean. Ruiz notched his second goal of the game just 44 seconds into the final frame to make it 10-5, but Lafayette responded with two quick tallies to cut the deficit to 10-7 with 11:34 left to play. MacLean and Burr both found the back of the net to regain a five-goal edge, with Lafayette responding to cut the deficit to 12-8. The Leopards had a late man-up chance, but sophomore Joe McSorley made two of his 13 stops and the Terriers cleared to ice the game. HAYDEN HAS A CAREER AFTERNOON Ruiz matched his career highs in goals (2), assists (2) and points (4) on Saturday. His last four-point outing came in last year's season-opening victory at Providence.
