The Binghamton men's lacrosse tam (0-2) fell to Colgate 21-7 on Tuesday afternoon at Andy Kerr Stadium. The Raiders jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first period. Sean Gilroy found the back of the net at 5:43 on a pass from Thomas McAndrew for Binghamton's first goal. Colgate added four more before Stephen Petrelli scored an unassisted goal as time ran out in the first. Colgate kicked off the second period scoring three straight goals. Petrelli scored his second goal of the game at 4:05 to make the score 14-3. Colgate netted one more goal but Petrelli and freshman Sean Makar answered for the Bearcats. Petrelli scored his third goal of the game with 2:03 remaining in the half and Makar posted his first collegiate goal as time ran out to head into halftime with Colgate leading 14-5. Makar netted his second goal of the game a minute in to the third quarter to cut the Colgate lead to 14-6. Colgate scored again before Makar found the back of the net for the third time. The Raiders closed out the game scoring six unanswered goals to win the contest 21-7. Petrelli and Makar each posted hat tricks while freshman goalie Hunter Greco recorded 10 saves in the net. The Bearcats take a break in the action but are back next Tuesday for their home opener against Canisius. The contest is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
