Junior attack Foster Cuomo had five goals and two assists and junior attack Mike Fletcher had four goals and three assists as the Quinnipiac men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 16-1 halftime lead on its way to an 18-6 win over NJIT on Saturday at Quinnipiac Lacrosse Team. Senior face-off specialist Will Vitelli keyed the dominance, winning 20-of-22 face-offs, 14 of which resulted in his own ground balls, while scoring a goal off one of them as well.

Junior attack Foster Cuomo had a hat trick in the game's first nine minutes before finishing with a career-best five goals
The seven points for Cuomo (five goals, two assists) and junior attack Mike Fletcher (four goals, three assists) were a career high for both. Fletcher matched his high in goals, which he set in a 12-11 overtime win over Brown on Feb. 17, including the game-winner.
Senior long-stick midfielder Adam Bellamy opened the scoring in transition off a feed from senior short-stick defensive midfielder Joe Murphy for his second goal of the season (and Murphy's first assist).
The Bobcats closed out the first half on a blistering tear, scoring five times in the final 1:23 to stretch their lead to 16-1 at the break.
Senior face-off specialist Will Vitelli (pictured) lost the opening face-off of the game on a violation, and then won 20 of his last 21 before giving way in the third quarter. He won two-thirds of those face-offs cleanly to finish with 14 ground balls.
Vitelli's big day on face-offs wasn't even his career best. As a sophomore, he had a game in which he was a perfect 19-19 at the X in an overtime win over Marist.
Cuomo scored his fifth goal of the game at the 8:13 mark of the third quarter to make the score 18-2, and the Bobcats did not score over the final 23 minutes as NJIT closed out on a 4-0 run. .
Junior Matt Frost and senior Anthony Carchietta added two-goal games for the Bobcats.
A total of 36 players saw game action for Quinnipiac.
