The Red Foxes played good defense in the first half but Drexel used a second half surge on offense to claim a 15-5 victory over Marist at Vidas field. Summary The Red Foxes did not waste anytime on offense, with Jon Constant finding the back of the net in the first 35 seconds of play. Minutes later, Gannon Morrison found an opening to give the Red Foxes a 2-0 lead. Drexel's Matt Varian scored a hat trick to tie the game up at 3-3. With five seconds left in the quarter, the Dragons scored to take a 4-3 lead. Both defenses locked down in the second quarter, with both teams going scoreless for over 11 minutes. James Sarrocco scored the only goal of the quarter, sliding the ball into the back of the net off a deflected shot. The Dragons had a chance to retake the lead at the end of the quarter but the Red Fox defense held steady and went into the second half 4-4. The Dragons came into the second half aggressive scoring six goals while shutting the Red Foxes down. They outshot Marist 16 to 5 in the third quarter while also not turn the ball over. Morrison finally got the Red Foxes on the board in fourth quarter, but the Dragons quickly responded with a goal of their own and put the game out of reach for Marist. Stats Morrison led the Red Foxes with two goals. Joe Tierney, James Sarrocco and Jon Constant all added a goal as well. The Dragons outshot Marist 38-35 and finished the day with more ground balls (34) compared to Marist (22). Matt Varian led Drexel with seven points coming from four goals and three saves. Game Notes This is the first time Marist has held an opponent scoreless for a quarter all season. Tierney has now scored a point in 20 consecutive games.
