Coastal Carolina's Harley Barrett picked up career save 400 in the 19-2 victory over first-year ASUN conference member Kent State, Tuesday, March 26 inside Brooks Stadium on the CCU campus. The win improved Coastal's overall record to 6-2 and 1-0 in the conference while the Golden Flashes fall to 0-10 and 0-1 in ASUN action. The Chanticleers opened the match with 10 unanswered goals. Madeline Bromley (three goals and two assists) started the scoring with 56 seconds expiring off the clock, as Samantha Courtemanche (two goals and two assists) hit Bromley diving to the middle of the eight-meter arc for the 1-0 lead. Megan Busch (three goals and one assist) scored with 28:43 on the game clock on Courtemanches' second assist of the game. The ASUN Player of the Week Haley Alexander (three goals) scored the first goal of her hat trick off the feed from Busch with 28:01 remaining in the opening stanza to add to the Chants early lead. With just 1:07 expiring from the game clock, Bromley connected with Haley Kyger (two goals) to push the Chanticleers lead to 4-0. Courtemanche found the back of the net for her first goal of the game with 22:24 remaining until the intermission, as her unassisted goal kept the Chants' offense rolling. Bromley hit a free position goal with 1:38 expiring from the clock followed by another goal from Busch to push the lead to 7-0 with 20:02 on the game clock. Alexander (19:29 and 15:48) then scored twice in a four-minute period to make it 9-0 for CCU with the first goal unassisted and the second off an assist from Bromley. Freshman Carlie Doughty pushed the lead to 10-0 when Lyla Robinson found her inside the eight-meter with 13:13 to play in the first half to force a running clock. Kent State got on the scoreboard at the 12:15 mark, as Lluna Katz found the mark off the assist from Abby Jones to make it 10-1. Coastal closed the first half when Bromley hit her second free position attempt of the contest to keep the clock running with 7:48 remaining. Bailey O'Brien pushed the lead to 12-1 with her first goal of the season with 6:06 on the game clock, while freshman Megan Bozzi finished the first half scoring at the 1:08 mark to give the home team a 13-1 lead. The second half opened with Kyger winning the draw and getting the unassisted goal at the 28:31 mark and increasing the lead to 14-1. Busch followed with 7:20 expiring off the game clock with her 10th goal of the season, ahead of Sydney Fox who tallied her second career goal with 19:31 remaining in regulation to make it 16-1 for Coastal Carolina. The Golden Flashes' Jones closed the scoring for the visitors to pull within 14 at 16-2 with 14:38 left to play. The Chants younger players would get an opportunity to run the offense to let the clock run. Newcomer Jennah Santiago would score her first career goal on a free position attempt to make it 17-2 with 11:02 on the game clock. Courtemanche would pick up her final goal of the day and 18th of the season to push the CCU lead to 18-2 minutes later. Freshman Hannah Close would complete the scoring for the final tally of 19-2 with 30 seconds remaining when Doughty found her in the middle of the eight-meter arc for her second goal of the season. Barrett and Regan McComb teamed together to make five saves in the day after facing just eight shots as the Chants' defense was stout throughout the contest. As a team, Coastal Carolina forced 21 turnovers while just committing nine with Alexander and senior Brie Perkins forcing two each.
