CONWAY – A hat-trick of hat-tricks led the Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team to a 20-7 win over the visiting Kennesaw State Owls on Senior Day, Sunday afternoon inside Brooks Stadium. The Chanticleers improved to 10-4 on the season and wrapped up ASUN action at 4-2 while KSU fell to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Prior to the start of Sunday's match versus the Owls, Coastal honored its six seniors, Julia Lucas, Brie Perkins, Madeline Bromley (three goals and two assists), Haley Kyger, Harley Barrett, and Haley Alexander (five goals and one assist) who played their final regular season home match. The visitors took advantage of some early jitters from the host team to take a 1-0 lead when Marissa Gore opened the scoring with 27:36 in the opening stanza with an unassisted goal. CCU's Samantha Courtemanche (four goals and two assists) found a wide open Lauren Cremen in front of the net to settle the nerves and put the first score for the Chants on the board. Coastal would then follow with two goals each from Alexander (19:08, 18:36) and Courtemanche (17:42, 17:07) to take a 5-1 lead. The Owls answered back with three goals to pull the visitors to 5-4 with goals by Haley Swift (16:02) and Anna Giulitto (13:02, 12:49). The Chanticleers closed the rest of the match with a 15-3 run for the final tally of 20-7. Alexander and Courtemanche each getting their hat-trick goals in the first half. Bromley picked up her hat-trick in the second half with 16:09 remaining in the game. Anya McSorley forced three turnovers and gathered three ground balls for Coastal's defense that forced nine turnovers and grabbed 16 ground balls while Barrett picked up seven saves. Coastal Carolina will next be in action as it will travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. on Thursday, April 18, with a 6:00 p.m. scheduled opening draw against former ASUN member Central Michigan.
