Hillburn, N.Y. (3/11/20) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team was defeated by St. Michael's College by a score of 12-6 at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in Hillburn, N.Y. The Chargers fall to 2-4 overall on the season and the Purple Knights improve to 1-2 on the season. Ryan Fischer (Monroe, N.Y.) and Luke Martini (Abington, Mass.) each scored two goals for the Chargers. Fischer also recorded a team-high 13 shots. Cole Vencack (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Nicholas D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.) each scored one goal. Vencack and Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.) each recorded two assists. Nicolas Jelovcic (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) contributed one assist each. Steffen Peabody (Brookhaven, N.Y.) started in goal for the Chargers and recorded 18 saves. Dominic Joy was in goal for the Purple Knights and recorded 14 saves. Max Katavolos scored a team-high five goals for the Purple Knights and added one assist. Kyle Hirshom and Arinze Nzeako each scored two goals. Alex Chirgwin Drew Collins, and Ralph Grillone III each scored one goal. DC held a 3-1 lead after the first quarter and the Purple Knights came from behind in the second quarter to tie the game at 4-4 by halftime. The Purple Knights scored the only two goals of the third quarter and held a 6-4 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Purple Knights never looked back as they added six goals in the fourth quarter and held DC to two goals in the final quarter and secured the 12-6 victory. The Chargers will be back in action on Tuesday, March 24th when they host non-conference opponent Mercy College at 4:00 PM.
