VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton University women's lacrosse team fell to Niagara by a score of 12-10 Tuesday afternoon. The Bearcats held a 7-4 lead at the half, but surrendered five of the game's final six goals and the Purple Eagles were able to escape with a win. Paige Volkmann led the way offensively for Binghamton, netting four first half goals. Freshman Jamie Golderman added two goals and two assists, while Amelia Biancardi returned to action and contributed, two goals, an assist, and four draw controls. Alissa Franze and Alyssa Sanchez were the other two Bearcats to find the scoring column. The Purple Eagles (3-3) were able to go up 3-1 early in the first half, but four straight goals by the Bearcats catapulted them into the lead. Niagara would go on the score once more in the half, but goals Volkmann and Biancardi made it 7-4 at the break. Golderman was able to kick off the second half with a goal, and Biancardi added one moments later, but the Purple Eagles made a run to tie the score at nine. The tenth goal of the afternoon (another by Golderman), briefly gave the Bearcats the lead, but three unanswered by Niagara in the closing minutes put this one away. Defensively, Gabrielle Marshall had two caused turnovers for Binghamton, while Taylor Passuello made 12 saves and scooped up five ground balls.
