Virginia Tech scored the game's first four goals and the Hokies would be relentless the rest of the afternoon, putting in program record-tying 23 goals in a rout of Old Dominion Wednesday afternoon. It was the program's first 20-goal margin of victory in its history, in this the 25thseason of competition. "We played Virginia Tech lacrosse for 60 minutes today," Virginia Tech head coach John Sung said. "We made some good adjustments today after the Duke game that I was really happy with. The girls shared the ball extremely well and we put ourselves in good positions to be successful." The Hokies were led by their outstanding midfield trio of Mary Claire Byrne. Paige Petty and Emma Crooks. The three combined for 12 of the Hokies' goals with Crooks and Petty each tallying five goals on the afternoon. Byrne stuffed the stat sheet with two goals and two assists on the offensive end and contributed five ground balls, a draw control and three caused turnovers defensively. Eleven different Hokies scored points on the afternoon which saw nearly every available player earn minutes. In goal for the Hokies, Morgan Berman made five saves in the contest to continue her great start to the 2019 season. She also came up with five ground balls and caused one turnover. "Morgan had another good game for us," Sung said. "She gave up just three goals and she had some saves, I'm happy with that." Three players; Lilly Siskind, Katie Miller and Glory Johnson each scored one goal for ODU, who falls to 1-5 with the result. Haleigh Wurzel made 13 saves in goal for the Monarchs. The Hokies caused 25 turnovers on the afternoon, while committing just 12 of their own. Tech scored the game's final 10 goals, capped by captain Kelci O'Donnell's strike with 20 seconds to go.
