FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State lacrosse team fell to Virginia Tech at the Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, 15-8. The Bulldogs fall to 4-3 on the season and continue their home stand facing Radford on Friday for Family and Friends Night at 5:00 p.m. PT. Fresno State will honor its seven seniors on Sunday afternoon prior to hosting Quinnipac, the game is slated to have an 11:00 a.m. PT start time. Fresno State was led by freshman Sydney Skalstad and junior Tiffiny Wallace with three goals each. Wallace also had a team-high three ground balls in the contest. Skalstad, Wallace, Hannah Krats, Kayla Galet, Marina Mayo, Ryleigh Bone, Olivia Mannon, Abbigayle Roberts, Jordyn Pandolfo, Angela Saladino and Kayle Kaesbauer led the charge for the Bulldogs with Laurel Maunder in the cage. FIRST HALF Wallace scored her first goal on a converted free position shot in the second minute of the game. Virginia Tech took a 2-1 lead with back-to-back goals from Paige Petty. The Bulldogs answered back with a 3-0 run with goals from Wallace and Galet, and a free position shot from Skalstad. Virginia Tech finished the half on a 9-2 run to give them an 11-6 lead at the half. Dawson Chalifoux and Wallace fired goals for the Bulldogs to pause the Hokie runs. SECOND HALF Scoring in the second half was minimal for both teams, with only six goals scored in 30 minutes. The Hokies continued their run out of the half, scoring three unanswered goals before Skalstad scored her second goal of the game. The Hokies added another and Skalstad rounded out scoring for the game with seven minutes to go. The final seven minutes were a defensive battle and both teams were held off the board. Virginia Tech had a 15-8 lead at the final buzzer. NOTABLE STATS Fresno State was out-shot, 45-20 in the game.
