The Aurora University men's lacrosse team traveled to Marian University in a a conference match-up. The Spartans jumped out to an early lead against the Sabres and would win 12-9. GAME INFORMATION FINAL SCORE: Aurora University 12, Marian University 9 RECORDS: Aurora University 8-5 overall and 4-1 NACC LOCATION: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin HOW IT HAPPENED - Marian scored the first goal one minute into the game. - Spartan Jimmy Gorecki would tie the game up with 8:21 left in the quarter. - Harrison Canaday would score two goals to put the Spartans up 3-1. - Andy Trenary scored with two minutes left in the quarter. - Canaday would score the final goal of the quarter, giving the Spartans a 5-1 lead after one quarter of play. - Marian would go on a 3-0 run to start the second quarter to cut the Spartan lead to 5-4. - Canaday would put an end to that run as once again scored back-to-back goals for the Spartans. - AU would go into half with the lead 7-4. - Similar to the second quarter, Marian would come out on a 3-0 run in the third to tie the game up at 7-7. - Joseph Dey would find the back of the net to put the Spartans back in front this time. - The Sabres would follow up Dey's goal quickly with one of their own to tie it again, 8-8 heading into the final quarter. - Marian scored the first goal in the 4th to take the lead 9-8. - With 7 minutes to play Canaday would tie the game up, and then take the lead with another goal less than a minute later. 10-9 Spartans. - With just under 6 minutes to play Zach Bernstein would extend the lead as he scored his first goal of the game. - Jimmy Gorecki would score another with 5 minutes remaining to conclude the scoring for the night. - The Spartans were victorious 12-9 SPARTAN TEAM LEADERS Points: Harrison Canaday (9) Goals: Harrison Canaday (7) Assists: Brody Macdonald and Harrison Canaday (2) Ground balls: Dominic Diaz (12) Caused Turnovers: Connor Hoeft (2) Saves: Phillip Gianelle (10) UP NEXT Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse team comes on Tuesday, April 20 when they host Concordia University Chicago.
