The Marquette women's lacrosse team moved to a perfect 4-0 at Valley Fields this season with a 19-9 victory over Central Michigan on Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Eagles got scoring contributions from eight different players and had 12 assists on their 19 goals. "It's really important to start fast and grab momentum," MU head coach Meredith Black said. "At times this year we've gained momentum in games and have struggled to get it back, but today we were consistent from start to finish." Lydia Foust and Hannah Greving both set career-highs with five goals apiece while Madison Kane netted her first hat trick of the season. Caroline Steller had another multi-goal game while senior captain Megan Menzuber had a game-high three assists. "Everyone's trusting each other and the entire team is stepping up on the offensive end," Foust said. "We had 11 different point scorers today and that has to be the recipe for success if we're going to keep this rolling." After trailing 1-0 early on, the Golden Eagles scored 12 of the games' next 15 goals to take a 12-4 lead into the halftime break. Foust, Greving and Kane all had hat tricks in the first half, which is the first time this season MU has accomplished that feat. MU went up 16-6 to grab its first 10-goal lead of the game with 21:26 remaining in the second half and a majority of the rest of the game was played with a running clock. Logan Dobratz, Megan Menzuber, Caroline Peterson and Emma Soccodato also added second half tallies for the Golden Eagles as the team eclipsed the 15-goal mark for the fifth time in eight games this season. For CMU, Natalie Karlen led the way with three goals and two assists while Tyra Prince and Jess Schuchardt had two goals each. RECORD WATCH: -Jules Horning saved seven shots in the first half and now sits just four saves away from being the all-time leader in program history. -The next win for the Golden Eagles will be Meredith Black's 50th career win at the helm of the program. -12 assists today for the team in 19 goals marks the No. 3 mark all-time in a single-game in program history. UP NEXT: Marquette returns to Valley Fields to take on Ohio State on Saturday at 2 p.m. Central time. The game will be live streamed again on GoMarquette.com.
