PHILADELPHIA - An early lead didn't hold for Temple lacrosse and the Owls (3-8, 0-1) struggled in the second half against #17 Florida (6-6, 1-0), ultimately falling 15-8 to the Gators in the first-ever American Athletic Conference game for both teams. Game Summary > While total shots favored Florida just 33-31, the Gators put 28 on goal compared to 20 for the Owls. > Temple came out strong and led 4-1, and still had a 5-4 lead with six minutes left in the first half. The Gators scored the final two goals of the period and went on a 9-0 run in the second half to put the game away. > Florida finished with a 15-10 lead in draw controls, getting eight of those from Shannon Kavanagh. Individual Highlights > Senior Amber Lambeth and sophomore Jen Rodzewich each finished with three points, scoring two goals and adding one assist. > Sophomore Bridget Whitaker tallied two points with one goal and one assist. > Senior Oliva Thompson, junior Maddie Gebert and freshman Margot Hotham scored one goal each, with Hotham's being the first of her career. > Junior Kara Nakrasius and sophomore Courtney Taylor led the team with three caused turnovers each, while Lambeth and Whitaker both came up with a team-best three draw controls. > Junior Maryn Lowell made 11 saves in 48 minutes of action. Quotable - Head Coach Bonnie Rosen > "We couldn't ask for a much better first half out of our team. Coming into it we knew it was going to be a really difficult game but we certainly had a sense of maybe we can get this done today. Then Florida came out and opened up that lead with some draw controls and good shooting down the stretch. There's a lot we can take out of today and every game matters in our conference. It was a good day overall and we had terrific weather, we just would have liked a different result at the end. I'm hoping this game prepared us a little bit more to compete and win next weekend." Up Next > The Owls will play two straight road games, starting with a 1 p.m. game at AAC foe UConn on Saturday, April 6.
