The Carthage College men's lacrosse team hit the road for an afternoon game at Concordia (Wis.) on Wednesday, coming out on top with a 19-6 victory at Fitting Field.
The Firebirds (6-0) opened the contest with six unanswered goals in the first quarter, including a pair of scores from George Burchfield. Alec Gern responded to a Concordia (Wis.) (2-1) point before the home team scored once more to set the scoreboard at 7-2 at the end of the first period.
In the second quarter, Carthage netted six unanswered goals before a last-second score from Concordia made it 12-3 at the half. The Firebirds would hold their lead for the 13-point victory to maintain their unbeaten record to begin the 2021 season.
Carthage remains on the road this weekend when they head to Aurora University on Saturday, March 20 for a 1 p.m. game.
