University of Richmond freshman attack Arden Tierney (Port Washington, N.Y.) continued her explosive scoring pace to start her career, adding another six goals in the Spiders dominant 22-9 victory over visiting William & Mary Saturday afternoon at Robins Stadium. The victory moves the Spiders to a 4-0 record on the year heading into Wednesday's game at Virginia. Tierney, who entered Saturday's games leading the country in goals by a freshmen, added to her season total with six goals for the second-straight game. She has now scored 17 goals in her first four career games, including 12 goals on the week in wins over Campbell and the Tribe. She also recorded 10 draw controls and an assist in the victory. Senior midfielder Madison Ostrick (Medford, N.Y.) added a hat trick of her own as seven different Spiders scored. Redshirt junior attack Sam Geiersbach (West Babylon, N.Y.) posted two goals and three assists while junior Nicole Concannon (Syossett, N.Y.) tallied a pair of goals. Freshman Lindsey Frank (Gansevoort, N.Y.) dished out a career-high six assists while adding a goal for a career-best seven points. Her six assists are just one shy of the single-game program record for the Spiders (7, Emily Doyle, 2012). Senior goalie Megan Gianforte (Brielle, N.J.) recorded five saves in the victory and eclipsed a big number in her career as she has now faced over 1,500 shots in her collegiate career. She faced 20 shots Saturday, raising her career total to 1,516 in her four years. The teams traded goals in the opening seven minutes of the game with Tierney started the game with a tally. The Spiders broke the game open with seven-straight goals, taking an 8-1 lead at the 15:55 mark of the first half. Tierney scored four of the first eight goals of the game as the Spiders jumped out to a big lead. William & Mary settled in and pulled within five at 10-5, but the Spiders added five straight, running the lead back to double figures at 15-5. Sophomore Lauren Kingsbury (Pennington, N.J.) and freshman Sophia DiCenso (Foxboro, Mass.) got in the scoring game during the five-goal run. Richmond would score the final six goals of the game, including a pair of goals from Kendall Duffy (Sinking Spring, Pa.) while Sophia Madsen (Snowmass Village, Colo.) capped the game's scoring with the team's 22nd goal of the day.
