PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's lacrosse team fell 12-7 on Saturday (March 19) in a non-conference matchup against Chatham. Allegheny and Chatham were neck-and-neck heading into the half, tied 3-3. The Gators put two on the board in the first period thanks to goals by Cassady Bouthet (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) and Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland). The former paced the Blue and Gold in groundballs along with caused turnovers with four and five of such occurrences, respectively. Meanwhile, D'Amato later drove in his second shot into the back of the cage in the following frame. However, Chatham put together five goals in the third quarter to slide past the Gators. Nevertheless, Allegheny showed resilience with four more goals in the final 15 minutes of play as Andrew Myers (Mars, Pa./North Allegheny) knocked in two shots to the back of the net, while Nicholas Cimillo (Palm Harbor, Fla./East Lake) and Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) also found their way past the opposing goalkeeper. Yet, Chatham held serve with four more goals of its own to defeat Allegheny. Other contributors for the Gators on the day included Konrad Homiak (Hampstead, N.C./Topsail) who had one assist. Additionally, netminder David Kratzenberg (Latrobe, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) made 11 saves. Allegheny will play its next matchup on the road at Shenandoah (Va.) on March 23 p.m. with face-off slated for 4 p.m.
